The adventures of Cycling Bear

A day of nothing.

Today is my rest day. This is good because today my legs feel just a bit heavy. Last night I slept like a baby all night, due I guess to my ride yesterday. So today is a day of nothing, I’m not really sure what I will do. This morning I took the bike for its first service and while I was there just spent a bit of time talking crap. This afternoon my plans include a little bit of internet surfing and maybe I will go for a swim spa and sauna, just to loosen up the muscles a bit. My motivation to get fitter is very high. Everyday I’m thinking about things I can do to make myself better. I’m sure this is a good thing!

Fifty

Today i went for a training ride. luckily the weather was a bit better and there was no rain!  this didnt exactly stop me getting wet, with some sill large puddles across the roads and path as well as a swollen creek which ment i had to make a bit of a detour.  Overall it was a good ride and i felt great once i got back, happy to get up over the 50km mark finally!

oh heres a map of where i went today

Tomorrow is a rest day and at the same time the bike goes in for its first service.

RACE DAY

Today, i raced in E Grade. It was raining heaps last night but the weather held of in the morning for the race.  The course was shortened as part of the roadway (2 of the fast corners) were covered in water. Luckily the part we raced on was quite dry.  the 2 new corners on the sorteed course were quite sharp which was an interesting experience. I’m not used to trying to corner so fast, so sharply in amongst other riders.  My result, well  came 6th out of 7!! actually the person 7th didnt finish, but thats ok. i Finished about 30 seconds after the winner and even though i was dropped with 3 laps to go, i never got lapped- they were closing on me but!

coming out of the fast corner

I really enjoyed the race. afterwords i was physically wrecked but very happy i finished on the same lap and also i learned so much.  It has spurred me on a lot for my training and i cant wait to get out tomorrow morning for a 3 hour ride.  Hopefully it has stopped raining by then!  On another positive note the weight keeps dropping off and i am now down 5 kg from where i started 1 moth ago.

Time for a bath and massage!!!

First Race

Tonight was the first race of the season. i had great fun, but it also showed how much more i need to keep training.  The result, well i ended up getting dropped of the bunch, but thats ok.  it was hot and windy, and i found myself wishing i hadn’t gone for a swim in the morning.  But overall it was a good experience and i cannot wait until
Saturday when it will be a bit cooler. I would write more about tonight’s race but i feel wrecked.. A good Wrecked.

Time for a massage!

Hot Days Ahead.

Ok, well it looks like the next few days are going to be pretty hot. Tomorrow morning is my planned swim which is ok, but I hope to race a Footscray Cycling Club crit race in the afternoon. I have been looking forward to this for while but maybe due to heat it will be cancelled. On top of the heat it looks like a very strong north wind will be blowing in the Afternoon. I guess all I can hope for is the weatherman is a lyer and tomorrow will be different to his predictions!!

Today’s Training ride went really good after a little bit of a false start. I woke up at 1 am wondering why I was so tired and it was still dark outside. When I realised it was 1am not 530, I went back to sleep, only to sleep through my alarm. Luckily after a hasty exit from bed I hit the road. Today’s training involved some Time trial work. 15 mins, with a 5 min recovery then 15 mins again. Awesome workout and defiantly worked up a good sweat. I felt really good after and certainly tired! Tomorrow is a swim then on Friday something very different for me, but I will explain more then.

One reason to hate being healthy

Ok, i just got back from supermarket and i must admit i really wanted to go down the biscuit aisle and just rip open a pack of Tim Tams.

But really one of the annoying things about eating healthy is it actually costs a whole lot more money, not just a little bit a heap!!!!!.  i am starting to see results, but honestly if i hadn’t seen any results already i ould just of easily gone and got myself a large big mac meal and probably some KFC.

Ok so im really having a crave. about to cook now, so everything should be good in my stomach soon.  Big training ride in the morning including some time trial like effort.  Hope the weather is nicer than it was this morning.. we’ll see.

I really felt stronger on the bike today which was good and really felt easier to hold a high cadence for a while.  Tonight im going to the state swimming centre for a swim just to relax the muscles.

Inspired

Inspired is how i feel. I know my fitness is not great and i need to lose a heap more weight but i’m really keen to get to next weeks race and get around and see where i am at.  Actually i already know-OUT THE BACK, but when i do go around the race course it will spur me on to work harder towards my goals.
